Clutch Inspection Method

Apr 17, 2025

1. When the engine is idling, the clutch can only be cut off when the clutch pedal is almost touched to the bottom; or when the clutch pedal is pressed, it is difficult to shift gears or there is a harsh collision sound from the transmission gear; or the vehicle starts to drive without lifting the clutch pedal after shifting gears, which indicates that the clutch of the vehicle is not completely separated.
2. The clutch slips. The reasons are: the free travel of the clutch pedal is too small, the release bearing is often pressed on the diaphragm spring, so that the pressure plate is always in a semi-separated state; the clutch pressure plate spring is too soft or broken; the screws connecting the clutch and the flywheel are loose, etc. There are many economy cars that have been used for about two years, such as Alto, Xiali, Flyer, Beidouxing, etc., because most of the original owners are new drivers, and they often have the above faults.
3. It is also abnormal if abnormal noise occurs during the use of the clutch. The reasons for the failure are: the release bearing is severely worn, the bearing return spring is too soft or broken, and the diaphragm spring bracket is faulty.
4. When the clutch pedal is pressed to 3/4, the clutch should be firmly engaged. Otherwise, check whether the stroke is appropriate. You can use a ruler to measure at the pedal. First measure the height of the pedal's highest position, then measure the height when you feel resistance when you press the pedal. The difference between the two values is the clutch stroke value of the vehicle.
